We found some foot prints in our classroom after dinner today. After looking at them and discussing what they looked like, we decided they belonged to Duck and Duckling. We talked about the size and then used cubes to measure them. We found that Duck’s foot print was 8 cubes long and Duckling’s foot print was 3 cubes long. We decided to measure our own feet to find out how big our own feet were. We helped our friends draw around our feet, then we used cubes to measure with!
We have our very own cafe in the classroom and what a success it has been! Here are some pictures of us using our new role play area. We have been taking people’s orders, thinking up new specials for the menu (birthday cake with sprinkles and sauce seems to be a definite favourite, thought up by Georgia!), paying the bill and talking about what the food tastes like.
This afternoon we read a fantastic story. It was all about two characters who were drawing a huuuuuge picture. They used different shapes to create pictures that took them on an adventure. We decided to create our own huge drawing and EVERYBODY got involved. Miss Jackson was so impressed to see that we were drawing different shapes like squares, triangles and rectangles, then turning them into things like houses, doors and boats! Some of us included some writing as well. We were having so much fun and doing so much drawing and writing that Miss Jackson had to get even more paper for us so that some of us could carry on drawing and writing!
