Shapes and number

This week we are learning about flat and solid shapes. Today we have been sorting shapes, and playing shape dominos. Some of us have been exploring different shapes with numbers on and matching the number to the 100 square.

A trip to the moon

Little Owls have been busy preparing for a space adventure to the moon. We prepared our own snack, we built a rocket and we made our own helmets. Charlie and Brandon made a sign for our door that said, ‘Don’t come in, we are building a rocket’. Holly made sandwiches in the glue and make area.
Miss Senior is so impressed by our team work today!
Does our rocket need a make over? What design do you think?

Fun in the rain!

We are not scared of the rain in Little Owl class.
We decided to experiment with mixing colours. We painted shapes and took them outside to watch the rain mix the colours together. The rain stopped as we got outside so, being the problem solvers that we are, we decided to make our own rain by using water and watering cans.
Come and look at the art work that we made. Don’t you think they look like planets in a solar system?

Little Owls have fun with maths language!

DSC04592

In our class we have been practicing using maths language to talk about numbers.

Holly talked about addition and recorded her findings as an addition sum.

Harley and Alex worked together to count out cubes using only 2 colours, they used maths words ‘more and less’ to talk about their numbers.

What a fabulous week we have had Little Owls. Thank you.

I’m Here!

anna 2

Hello there everyone!

I’m sure that you will have all met me by now but I just wanted to say a great big hello and I wanted to tell you how excited I am to be the new Little Owls class teacher.

We have had lots of fun getting to know each other over the last 2 days. We have been writing lists of picnic food to take away with us on a picnic to the moon. Lots of us seem to like chocolate sandwiches.

What food do you think an alien from space might like if he were to have a picnic on the moon? hmmmmmmmm
